  1. Number of years of experience in sales or retail (not always essential)
  2. Strong customer service skills, for example ability to listen and relate to customers
  3. Good communication skills
  4. Teamwork and collaboration
  5. Being comfortable handling cash
  6. Well-presented (for example freshly showered with clean clothes and tidy hair)
  7. Self-motivated
  8. Attention to detail.

Tip: It’s worth including your experience of the skills detailed in the job description. If you don’t have any previous sales experience, give examples of your transferrable skills that fit. For example, if you’ve been part of a study group or sports committee, you can talk about your skills in teamwork and collaboration.
