About CoAct: Our story

When the government outsourced public employment programs, it created an environment of competition, rather than collaboration. The best chance of success for small, community-based providers was to combine forces and tender collaboratively as a single provider.

So, we developed the first ‘social franchise’ of its kind in Australia and wrote the first chapter in our story of ‘the power of many.’

Our service partners are empowered to deliver employment services directly within their local communities, leveraging their local knowledge and connections.

As the engine room, CoAct provides comprehensive support to our partners, including procurement of new contracts, co-designed service delivery models, robust quality frameworks, and cutting-edge technologies tailored to their needs.

The 100-plus community-based organisations we’ve partnered with across the country over the last 25+ years have each added to the rich tapestry that is CoAct today.

Our network is made up of diverse organisations who all bring different strengths and knowledge which can be shared. Each of our service partners play a significant role in positively impacting individuals and their communities.

No matter if the community is in a remote, regional or metropolitan area, each community has unique challenges which power new thinking.

We have a strong history of partnering with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and have serviced some of the most remote First Nations communities across Australia.

We’ve also seen lasting benefit to individuals and their communities through our youth-focused green projects, which we delivered for over 16 years.

A common theme across our network is the great sense of community, camaraderie and genuine care for each other and those we help.
