What does this change mean for you?

If you received a letter or a text message from the Department of Social Services this week (w/c 22nd August 2022) explaining that your current DES provider will no longer be providing that service, you now have the opportunity to choose a new DES provider in your area.

This is an excellent opportunity to connect with a local DES provider that understands your unique needs and challenges.

How to choose a new DES provider

Finding a new DES provider is a simple process;

  1. You can select a DES provider from the list of local providers included in the letter you received from the Department of Social Services.
  2. You can search for a local provider within the JobAccess website: https://www.jobaccess.gov.au/find-a-provider

You can also transfer directly to CoAct by calling 1800 226 228.

What is the DES transfer process?

After you have selected a new DES provider, you will need to call National Customer Service Line on 1300 854 414 and let them know of this change.

What happens if you don’t choose a new DES provider before 7th October?

If you don’t choose a new DES provider before 7th October 2022, a provider will be selected on your behalf.

What happens after transferring to a new DES provider?

Your new provider will get in touch to arrange an appointment. If you have mutual obligations, these will be suspended from 22 August 2022 until 23 October 2022. This will give you time to start working with your new provider.

If you are looking for work, your new provider will help you. If you already have a job, with your agreement your new provider will tell your employer what’s happening to make sure you still get the support you need.
