40 years of impact

Magnificent seven serve up success

For CoAct Service Partner IMPACT Community Services, helping people take the next step, live a better life, grow their potential and prosper in their future is at the core of everything they do.

The 40th anniversary celebration provided the perfect opportunity for Certificate III (CIII) Hospitality students with little or no work experience to showcase what they had learnt from their training to date.

Seven students including Emilio Russell, Shelley Bell, Paiton Dryden, Christopher Chapman, Jackson Brown, Tobias Carkeet and Iezekiel Waia are working towards a certificate that helps them gain a wide range of in-demand hospitality skills including:

  • Customer service
  • Responsible service of alcohol
  • Safe food handling and preparation
  • Cleaning of work station and cooking equipment

Through the government-funded Transition to Work (TtW) program, IMPACT has also been able to provide the CIII Hospitality students with further support including appropriate clothing as well as helping to address any personal or training concerns.

As part of the hospitality team for IMPACT’s 40th anniversary event, the seven participants got a chance to put what they had learned into practice with all agreeing that it was a positive experience and a real confidence booster.

IMPACT staff and guests were also impressed with their efforts and how seamless the service was on the night.

“Very quick service and awesome work from Jeff and the hospitality students at our 40th anniversary event.”

The Certificate III in Hospitality course is a nationally recognised qualification for people interested in working in the hospitality industry.

The team at IMPACT Community Services is looking forward to supporting the students as they work towards the successful completion of their course and get another step closer to securing paid employment.
