Wayne serves up a recipe for success

How would you manage a history of mental illness, a recent Asperger’s diagnosis and following your passion as a chef? With a little help from his co-pilots CoAct and our Service Partner, Workways Australia, Wayne is flourishing in his new job!

22 year-old Wayne has always loved food. “Just something about it, it seems so enticing… so invigorating”, he says.  But with a history of mental illness and a recent Asperger’s diagnosis, he faced some challenges following his passion as a chef.

For Wayne, the recipe for success started with working with our CoAct Service Partner team, who provided him with dedicated assistance tailored to his unique needs as a job seeker.

Mix in some help from the CoAct network to connect Wayne with a supportive, inclusive employer, and add a big spoonful of drive and enthusiasm from Wayne, and you have all the perfect mix of ingredients for success!

This is a moving story of how Steve, a local café owner, along with CoAct have been there for Wayne every step of the way during his employment journey.
