Do your clients need help finding a job or staying in work?

CoAct assists individuals living with disability, illness and injury to access employment opportunities, overcome barriers, and obtain necessary support services.

Who is commonly referred to CoAct?

Referral partners, including GPs and allied health professionals, NDIS support staff, educators and parents, frequently refer the following individuals to our services:

  • NDIS participants
  • Disability Support Pension (DSP) recipients
  • Early school leavers
  • SLES participants
  • People transitioning from Supported Employment to Open Employment
  • People living with disability
  • People living with illness, including anxiety and depression
  • People living with injury
  • People in employment but needing extra support
  • Workforce Australia participants who require extra support.

Disability Employment Services (DES)

DES helps people living with disability, injury, illness or health condition find work and stay employed. This includes people living with anxiety or depression, neurodivergence including ADHD and autism, a physical or intellectual disability, learning difficulties, and visual or hearing impairment.

Workforce Australia (previously jobactive)

Workforce Australia is a government program that helps people receiving income support to find work and stay employed. If your client or family member is self-managing in Workforce Australia Online and would benefit from personalised support, you can refer them to CoAct Workforce Australia Services. Alternatively, they can request a transfer to CoAct Workforce Australia Services via the Digital Services Contact Centre.

Workforce Australia – Transition to Work

Workforce Australia – Transition to Work provides intensive employment assistance for eligible 15 to 24 year olds.

Refer your client to CoAct and we’ll help them to overcome employment barriers.

Support to find a job

As a leading not-for-profit Disability Employments Services (DES) provider, CoAct helps individuals find and prepare for a employment. We also offer comprehensive assistance to employers to support their employees with disability, injury or illness in the workplace. 

Our carefully tailored support is free and includes:

• help to look for suitable jobs
• career advice
• work-ready skills and training including short courses and work placements
• resumes and job application assistance
• help to prepare for job interviews
• financial assistance for transport or work uniforms
• advice and access to workplace modifications and assistive technology
• regular ongoing support in the workplace
Disability Employment Services

Support to stay in work

Our support continues once participants start work to give them the best chance of success, including:

• job-readiness for their first day
• on-the-job training as well as ongoing support when needed
• liaising with their employer when needed
• help with workplace modifications
• working with medical and support services to help keep them in work.

If you have a client currently experiencing difficulties fulfilling the essential requirements of their job, arising from the impact of their injury, disability or health condition, CoAct can help through the government funded Work Assist program.

A collaborative delivery model

We offer a collaborative delivery model that we believe supports more people into sustainable employment than any other. CoAct partners with the Australian Government to deliver a range of employment services programs through our network of trusted local partners across Australia. This includes initiatives such as:

Our team can help people overcome any challenges and through our network, we deliver specialist community and employment services working collaboratively with you to provide tailored support programs.
About CoAct

Who can refer to CoAct?

CoAct works with referral partners across the country including GPs, allied health professionals, hospitals, schools and educators, Support Coordinators, employers, NGOs, family members and carers.

Who is eligible?

Each of our programs has different eligibility criteria. Your client may be eligible for Disability Employment Services (DES) if they are:
  • living with a disability, mental health condition, treated illness or injury that makes it difficult to find and keep a job. This includes living with anxiety or depression, neurodivergence including ADHD and autism, a physical or intellectual disability, learning difficulties, visual or hearing impairment.
  • an Australian citizen or hold a permanent resident, or on a Temporary Protection, Special Category or Safe Haven Visa.
  • aged between 14 and 67.
  • able to work at least 8 hours per week and no more than 30. 
  • are receiving an income support payment.

Step 1 Permission
Speak with your client or family member and obtain their permission to refer them to CoAct employment services.
Step 2 Refer
Complete the referral form or call 1800 226 228 to chat with our referral team.
Step 3 Discuss
Our team will contact your client to discuss their employment needs.
Step 4 Support
Their employment support begins with CoAct.
