Trust, continuity and responsive support matter more than ever in a changing NDIS
Trust, continuity and responsive support matter more than ever in a changing NDIS
By Belinda Sutherland, General Manager – NDIS, CoAct
As the NDIS continues to evolve, one thing remains constant: participants and families need support they can trust.
In recent months, much of the conversation around NDIS reform has focused on sustainability, quality, accountability, and safeguarding the future of the scheme. These are important priorities. But for participants navigating the system day to day, the experience of support often comes down to something much more personal.
- Do I feel heard?
- Can I rely on my provider?
- Will someone follow through when I need help?
For many people, trust is built through consistency, communication, and knowing there is someone beside them who genuinely understands their goals and circumstances.
Recently, one participant shared why they chose to continue their journey with the same support coordinator when that coordinator moved to CoAct. Their feedback highlighted the importance of continuity and responsiveness during periods of change:
I moved with the support coordinator who I trusted.
The participant described feeling informed and supported throughout the transition process, with regular communication, responsive follow-up, and proactive engagement from the wider CoAct team.
They handled the transition and kept us very informed.”
“Even though we are new to CoAct, they are really responsive and follow up with me.
Importantly, the feedback also reinforced something we strongly believe at CoAct – quality support coordination is never just about administration or transactions. It is about relationships, trust, and helping participants feel confident and supported as they navigate the NDIS.
In a system that can often feel complex, responsiveness matters. Participants should not have to chase providers for updates, repeat their story multiple times, or feel disconnected from the people supporting them.
The participant also reflected positively on feeling connected not only to an individual support coordinator, but to a broader organisation that was actively engaged and accessible.
I not only have the support coordinator’s details and contacts but others in the organisation.
This speaks to the importance of sustainable, team-based support models that place the participant at the centre while ensuring continuity and reliability over the long term.
As reforms continue to reshape the NDIS landscape, participants and families are increasingly seeking providers who are transparent, accountable, and genuinely committed to walking alongside them through change.
At CoAct, we know trust is earned through action – through being responsive, following through, communicating clearly, and building relationships that last.
Because while systems and policies may evolve, the need for human connection, consistency, and quality support never changes.
