Starting and finishing in Inclusive Employment Australia

Am I eligible?

Before getting started in Inclusive Employment Australia, we’ll check if you’re eligible. Inclusive Employment Australia is open to a wide range of people with disability, illness, injury or health conditions. This includes those with a limited work capacity and people not receiving Centrelink income support payments. You can find more details on eligibility criteria on the JobAccess website: jobaccess.gov.au

When do I start receiving support?

If you’re eligible, you’ll start receiving services as soon as possible. If you receive Centrelink income support payments and are able to work 30 hours or less per week, you can register for Inclusive Employment Australia and choose when to begin. If you’re not receiving income support payments, talk to us about how we can assist to test your eligibility for Inclusive Employment Australia.

You may be eligible if you are:

  • an Eligible School Leaver, Special Class Client or Ongoing Support (Work Assist) participant
  • a current Disability Support Pension (DSP) recipient and have had a previous ESAt
  • a current NDIS participant and have had a previous ESAt
  • a Pre-Release Prisoner
  • undertaking Inclusive Employment Australia to satisfy Program of Support requirements
  • aged at least 14 and below Age Pension qualifying age
  • not participating in another government-funded employment service such as Workforce Australia or Parent Pathways.

If you’ve applied for the DSP, you may also be required to participate in Inclusive Employment Australia as a Program of Support. We’ll wait for your results from Services Australia to confirm you’re eligible.

Why might I not be able to start?

Even if you meet the eligibility requirements, there are times when you may not be able to start or stay in Inclusive Employment Australia. You could be ineligible for Inclusive Employment Australia if:

  • you’re predicted by your Job Capacity Assessor as being able to work 30 hours, or more, each week. This applies to your capacity now and for the next two years.
  • you’ve been granted an Activity Test Exemption (for those on JobSeeker or Youth Allowance)
  • you’re studying or undertaking other activities that meet your activity test requirements

Can I take a break from Inclusive Employment Australia services?

If you’ve got Centrelink requirements to look for a job, you’ll need to ask Centrelink for a suspension from Inclusive Employment Australia. You’ll need to present a medical certificate, or other reasons. If you’re not receiving a Centrelink income support payment and have volunteered for Inclusive Employment Australia, you can request a break from the service at any time. You can still choose to get support from us if you are taking a break from participating in Inclusive Employment Australia through a suspension period. We can help you develop a support network, learn more about your condition, improve your coping strategies and bridge the divide between your suspension and a supported return to Inclusive Employment Australia. If you need to take a break from our intensive servicing, but don’t want to take a full pause, you can talk to your consultant about participating in our flexible servicing. This means you can still get our support while taking care of your situation. It’s important to note that if you exit Inclusive Employment Australia and wish to restart the service later, your eligibility may have changed. For this reason, in some circumstances we recommend requesting a suspension, rather than an exit from Inclusive Employment Australia.

When do I leave the service?

You leave Inclusive Employment Australia when you don’t need our support anymore. Some reasons
include:

  • you’ve worked for 52 weeks and don’t need further help from us to keep your job
  • you’re in Flexible Ongoing Support and haven’t accessed our services for 52 weeks in a row
