Simone’s story: from stay-at-home Mum to confident job seeker
Simone’s story: from stay-at-home Mum to confident job seeker
When Simone first reached out to CoAct Connect + BUSY At Work Mount Isa, she was ready to make a change. A stay-at-home Mum with no prior work experience, she had decided it was time to take a leap into the workforce. While the idea felt daunting at first, Simone was determined, and she didn’t have to take the journey alone.
Taking the First Step
Simone had never held a formal job and didn’t have any tickets or licences at the time, which made entering many industries more challenging. But what she lacked in experience, she more than made up for in effort.
“I was ready to give it everything I had—I just needed someone to believe in me.” – Simone
And give it everything she did. With encouragement from her support team, Simone threw herself into the job-seeking process.
“From day one, Simone had the drive. She just needed the tools and someone in her corner to back her. That’s what we’re here for.” – Brandee, Recruitment Partner
While waiting to hear back from employers, she continued to upskill and with help from her Recruitment Partner, Brandee and Mentor, Jade, Simone successfully completed her White Card training which opened even more doors and opportunities.
Her First Role – and a Fresh Routine
Before long, Simone landed an interview for a cleaning role and started the very next day.
From the beginning, her dedication was clear. Each morning, she walked her son to school before heading to work. Her positive attitude and strong work ethic quickly stood out, catching the attention of her supervisor.
Impressed by her commitment, both her supervisor and the team at CoAct Connect + BUSY At Work Mount Isa supported her further by providing an e-scooter to make her commute easier.
“We could see how committed she was — walking to work every day after dropping off her son. The e-scooter was just a small way we could help lighten the load.” – Jade, Mentor
A Confident Move Forward
Six months into her role, Simone had found her rhythm and with it, a new sense of confidence. She was ready for more: to challenge herself, grow her skills, and explore new opportunities.
Recognising this, Brandee arranged an employer session with Commercial Property Cleaning. Simone showed up prepared and focused, resume in hand and determination in her stride.
“She absolutely owned it. The confidence she’s built over the past few months really showed in that session.” – Brandee, Recruitment Partner
Her professionalism and positivity stood out, and the session resulted in a new job offer, one that offered fresh challenges and the chance to continue building on everything she’d achieved so far.
“This is more than just a job. It’s shown me what I’m capable of.” – Simone
Celebrating Simone’s Success
Simone’s journey from stay-at-home Mum to confident, employed professional is a shining example of what’s possible when determination meets the right support. Her story is one of persistence, self-belief, and the power of a helping hand.
“It’s been an honour to walk alongside Simone in this journey. She’s done the hard work — we’re just proud to have played a part in her success.” – Brandee, Recruitment Partner.
We couldn’t be prouder of what Simone has achieved—and we’re excited to see what she does next.
