National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

CoAct is a national leader in employment and community services. We work with Referral Partners across the country to provide people eligible for the NDIS with quality support services to live life to the fullest through sustainable employment.

Choice and control

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) offers greater choice and control to people with a disability. It delivers individualised funding to allow people with disability greater input to the development of their support packages.

At CoAct we work with Referral Partners and their patients/clients to identify the support individuals need to live their lives to the fullest. This includes looking at ways for people to effectively achieve:

  • Independence
  • Involvement in the community
  • Education
  • Employment
  • Health and wellbeing

What is the NDIS?

The aim of the NDIS is to deliver a life-long approach to supporting people with disability through individualised funding so they can receive care and support based on their individual requirements, goals and aspirations.

The NDIS provides people with disability direct access to a “pool of funds”. Each person’s budget for disability services and support is based on an assessment of their individual needs, for now and for their future development, fulfilment and well-being.

The NDIS uses an insurance approach similar to Medicare, which means the costs of disability for a person will be shared among the wider community.

CoAct is able to work collaboratively with Referral Partners to ensure that we can offer tailored employment programs for people with disability and their supports.

NDIS eligibility

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) helps people with a significant and permanent disability and who need assistance with every day activities. This includes people whose disability is attributed to intellectual, cognitive, neurological, sensory, or physical impairment, or a psychiatric condition.

CoAct can work with Referral Partners to determine a person’s eligibility for NDIS funding. The NDIS offers a tool called My Access Checker to help people find out if they are eligible for NDIS funding. Further information regarding eligibility is also available via the NDIS website, or by contacting the National Disability Insurance Agency on 1800 800 110 or by contacting CoAct directly.
