New guide from the Australian Government: your Inclusive Employment Australia questions, answered
Starting with a new employment program can bring up a lot of questions. What happens next? What do I need to do? Who can I talk to?
To help, the Department of Social Services (DSS) has released a new Participant Information Pack: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Inclusive Employment Australia. It was released in September 2026, and it’s a handy place to find clear answers in one spot.

What is Inclusive Employment Australia?
Inclusive Employment Australia is the government program that helps people with disability, injury or a health condition find work, keep it and grow their career. It replaced Disability Employment Services (DES) in November 2025.
Why should I read the FAQ?
It comes straight from the government, so you know the information is accurate and up to date. The FAQ is a good place to start if you’ve been wondering things like:
Can I join the program?
- How do I choose or change my provider?
- What is a Job Plan, and what goes in it?
- Do I have mutual obligations?
- What support can I get once I find a job?
Whether you’re new to the program or have been taking part for a while, it’s worth a read. Knowing your rights and options helps you get the most out of your support.
Tips for reading it
- Take your time. You don’t need to read it all at once. Jump to the questions that matter most to you.
- Write down your questions. If something isn’t clear, note it down and bring it to your next appointment.
- Share it. If a family member, friend or carer helps you with your job search, send them a copy too.
