Mindi’s story: Strength, resilience and new beginnings

A journey shaped by determination

Mindi connected with CoAct Connect + BUSY At Work feeling lost and emotionally exhausted, having recently left an unsafe home situation. Her priority was clear. She needed to be strong for her two daughters, even while carrying the weight of everything she had been through.

Mindi’s determination had been building for years. From a young age she was passionate about hairdressing and worked hard to build the career she had always dreamed of, completing her apprenticeship while juggling a second job just to keep up with her bills. Over time, chronic pain in her wrist and knees made the physical demands of the job harder and harder, until Mindi made the difficult decision to step back from a career she truly loved.

After leaving her relationship, Mindi poured everything she had into her daughters’, surrounding them with stability and love, while her own needs took a back seat. She knew she couldn’t return to hairdressing, but she wasn’t yet sure what the next chapter would look like. Past experiences with other providers had left her feeling discouraged, unseen and unsure where to turn.

The day everything changed

Meeting Heidi changed things for Mindi.

With this support, Mindi began to reconnect with herself. She rediscovered the self-care techniques she had once taught her own daughters but had gradually stopped using herself. As her confidence returned, so did her motivation, and she began to believe in a positive future again.

A future she is proud of

Today, Mindi proudly describes herself as a success story, not because life has been easy, but because she was finally given the right support at the right time. Her daughters are back at school, thriving, and full of confidence. Mindi is resilient, self-aware and deeply committed to building a meaningful future for herself and her girls.

For the first time in four years, I feel seen, understood and supported,” Mindi said.
