Fenti steps forward with confidence
When Fenti connected with CoAct Connect + BUSY At Work, she was going through a very challenging period in her life. Finding work felt hard to imagine. Transport was difficult, her confidence was low, and ongoing health and wellbeing needs meant she needed steady and understanding support.
Even so, Fenti knew she wanted more stability and independence. She wanted to build skills, find work she could feel safe in, and take steps toward a stronger future.
I just wanted to feel proud of myself and where I was heading,” Fenti said.

Building skills and feeling supported
Fenti started by joining workshops that helped her build basic job skills and explore her interests. Through these sessions, hospitality stood out as a pathway she wanted to try.
With encouragement from her mentor, Fenti enrolled in a Certificate III in Hospitality. This was a big step and her first formal training. It led to her first job, something she had worked hard towards.
When that workplace did not feel right for her, Fenti made a brave decision to put her wellbeing first. She spoke openly with her mentor and asked for support.
Together, they focused on helping Fenti feel confident and ready again. She returned to workshops, learned ways to manage anxiety, and kept following her health plan with care. Practical support made a real difference. She received help with transport through a scooter, as well as assistance refining her résumé, building interview skills, and encouragement to proudly share her culture and identity as strengths.
She kept showing up and doing the work, even when things were hard,” her mentor said.
A fresh start and a brighter future
When Fenti felt ready, a new opportunity came up in a more supportive workplace. With interview coaching and steady encouragement, she went to the interview prepared and confident. Soon after, she found a job and settled into the role.
Support continued with work clothes, checks, and transport help so she could start with confidence. Since then, Fenti has stayed in her role for six months and is thriving. She has grown in independence, completed her learner driver course, bought her first car, and continues working toward her licence.
I feel stronger now. I know I can keep going,” Fenti said.
Fenti’s story shows what can happen when determination meets the right support. With care, belief and practical help, she has built confidence, independence and a future she feels proud of.
