Dionysia’s Story: From study to employment opportunity

Determination, one step at a time

CoAct Connect + BUSY At Work Southport is proud to celebrate the success of Dionysia, a customer who has shown incredible determination and resilience on her journey toward employment.

As a single parent raising two young children, Dionysia faced a number of challenges while working towards her career goals. With English as her second language, she remained committed to building a brighter future for herself and her family.

One of the key barriers to employment was obtaining a driver’s licence. Through support from her Mentor Si, she completed her driving lessons and successfully gained her licence, opening up more opportunities for both study and work.

Turning study into a foot in the door

With her newfound confidence, she enrolled in a Certificate IV in School Based Education Support. Throughout her studies, Si provided ongoing guidance and helped her secure placement hours with BUSY Schools. During her placement, she made a lasting impression on staff, who gave positive feedback about her performance, enthusiasm and professionalism.

The right opportunity at the right time

After successfully completing her qualification, she reconnected with Si to discuss employment opportunities. Knowing the impression she had made during placement, Si reached out to BUSY Schools when a Teacher Aide position became available.

The timing couldn’t have been better. The school was delighted to hear from Si and shared that they would love to welcome her back. With only an updated resume and cover letter needed to progress her application, she is now one step closer to turning her study success into meaningful employment.

Dionysia’s journey is a wonderful example of what can be achieved through determination, hard work and the right support. We look forward to seeing her continue to thrive in her chosen career and wish her every success in the next exciting chapter of her employment journey.
