Coral-Lee’s story: a job that fits around family
Balancing family and the job search
Coral-Lee connected with CoAct Connect + BUSY At Work determined to find steady work close to home. As the main carer for her son, she needed a job that would fit around her responsibilities at home, including supporting his school attendance and his behavioural support needs. For eight months, Coral-Lee kept at it, approaching local employers, handing out her resume and following up on every lead she could find. There were plenty of setbacks and knock backs along the way, but Coral stayed motivated and kept her sights on her goal.
Some days were harder than others, but I kept going because I knew something would come through,” Coral-Lee said.

Building confidence one step at a time
With support from her employment team, Coral-Lee focused on strengthening her job search skills. She took part in resume workshops to sharpen up her resume and worked through interview practice sessions to build her confidence in front of employers. Each session helped her feel more prepared and provided more clarity on what she had to offer.
Coral-Lee never gave up. She kept showing up and doing the work, even when things were tough at home,” her employment support worker said.
A new job and a well earned win
After eight months of persistence, Coral-Lee’s hard work paid off. She secured a local job that fits around her caring responsibilities, giving her the stability and routine she had been working so hard towards. It’s a win that means a lot, not just for her career, but for the balance she has been trying to find between work and family.
I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I couldn’t have done it without the support along the way,” Coral-Lee said.
Coral-Lee’s story shows what can happen when determination meets the right support. It’s a reminder that even when the road ahead feels long, people can keep moving forward and create a future they’re proud of.
