CoAct is hiring a Clinical Lead to help build a psychology service from the ground up

We’re currently recruiting for a Clinical Lead – Psychology to join Nurah, our allied health service, and the ad is live on Seek. Most psychology leadership roles ask you to run a service someone else designed. This one doesn’t work that way. Nurah’s psychology service doesn’t exist yet in full, which means the person who takes this role gets to decide how it should work, not just keep it running.

That’s a different kind of job. It’s also a harder one to explain in a job ad, so here’s the version with more context.

About Nurah

Nurah is a service of CoAct, offering counselling, psychology, and behaviour support to NDIS participants, private clients, and the coordinators and clinicians who refer to them. Counselling and behaviour support are already up and running. Psychology is the piece still being built, and it needs someone at the clinical helm before it scales.

That’s the Clinical Lead – Psychology role. You’d report to the General Manager – NDIS & Allied Health, but the day-to-day shape of the job is yours to define: clinical standards, supervision structures, how a multidisciplinary team of psychologists actually works together, and what growth looks like once the foundations are in.

Why this matters if you’re weighing it up

If you’ve led clinicians before, you know the gap between a leadership title and real influence. Plenty of “senior” psychology roles are administrative wrapping around someone else’s clinical model. This one isn’t, because there’s no existing model to defer to. You’d be setting the supervision framework, the quality benchmarks, the way complex presentations get supported across the team. That’s real clinical authority, not a seat at a meeting where decisions have already been made elsewhere.

It also means the job needs someone who’s done this before, not someone who wants to try it for the first time. Current AHPRA registration as a General or Clinical Psychologist is essential, along with real experience supervising or leading psychologists in a multidisciplinary setting. NDIS, disability, or community mental health background matters here too, since the population Nurah serves brings complexity that a generalist private-practice background won’t have prepared you for. Psychology Board Approved Supervisor status is a strong plus, not a requirement, but if you have it, it tells us something about how seriously you take the mentoring side of this.

Remote work opportunity

Remote work, based from Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne, on a permanent full-time contract. Salary packaging up to $15,900 a year, an extra 13 days of wellbeing leave on top of standard leave, a home office setup allowance, and a health and wellbeing allowance. As part of CoAct, this role also sits inside an organisation that’s picked up Employer of Choice recognition three times since 2019 and an Inclusive Employer citation from Diversity Council Australia. That’s not the reason to apply, but it’s worth knowing before you do.

The honest pitch is this: if you want to manage an existing team inside an existing structure, there are easier jobs than this one. If you want to build the clinical backbone of a psychology service from an early stage and have it reflect your judgement, this is the one where that’s actually on offer.
