Christian’s story: A journey to becoming a trainer and assessor

A clear goal and a realistic pathway

When Christian commenced with CoAct Connect + BUSY At Work he was presenting with multiple barriers to employment. Despite these challenges, Christian demonstrated strong motivation and had a clear, well-defined career goal: to become a Trainer and Assessor within the civil construction industry.

From commencement, BUSY At Work worked closely with Christian to support his career aspirations and develop a realistic pathway to achieve his goal. To support his transition into training and assessment, the team assisted Christian to enrol in a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, ensuring he had access to the qualifications required within the industry.

To support his studies, they also provided Christian with a laptop, enabling him to complete his training and assessments effectively. In addition, Christian was supported to re-obtain key machinery tickets, as well as Standard 11 and civil construction tickets, which were essential for both employment and future training roles.

Building experience while working toward his goal

While studying and completing his qualification, Christian successfully gained employment as a Machine Operator, allowing him to maintain income, build further industry experience, and continue progressing toward his long-term goal. During this period, transport became a barrier to his employment. BUSY At Work provided assistance with vehicle repairs, ensuring Christian had reliable and suitable transport to attend work.

Achieving his goal

While working as a Machine Operator, Christian continued to actively pursue opportunities aligned with his goal of becoming a Trainer and Assessor. Through his ongoing efforts and industry experience, Christian successfully secured employment as a Trainer and Assessor, achieving the outcome he had worked toward since commencing.

BUSY At Work continued to provide wrap-around support to ensure Christian’s employment was sustainable. This included assistance with work clothing, work-related items such as a handheld radio, and fuel support, enabling him to meet the requirements of his role and remain focused on his employment.

Christian’s journey demonstrates resilience, commitment, and a strong work ethic. CoAct Connect + BUSY At Work is proud to have supported Christian in overcoming barriers, achieving his qualifications, and securing meaningful employment aligned with his career goals. They look forward to seeing Christian continue to grow and succeed in the civil construction industry as a Trainer and Assessor.
