Brendan ready for a new start in Agnes

When Brendan first connected with CoAct Connect + Community Solutions in Agnes, he was keen to work and build a better routine. He wanted a real job where he could feel proud of what he was doing. But even with strong motivation, Brendan had a few barriers that made it hard to get started.

He wanted to get key tickets like First Aid and CPR, RSA, and Food Handling to improve his chances of getting hired. He also needed help to write a professional resume. On top of that, he needed the right work clothes and a way to get to work each day. Brendan hoped for a reliable option like a bike he could call his own.

I wanted to work, I just needed a bit of help to get everything in place. Brendan said.

Practical help that made a big difference

Right from the start, Brendan showed real determination. He kept his focus on his goals, even when the list of things he needed felt big. With the support of Adele and Tim, Brendan started knocking down each barrier, one by one.

Adele and Tim helped Brendan with the practical steps that matter when you are job hunting. They supported him to get job-ready, build his confidence, and work through the tasks that can feel overwhelming when you are doing it alone. This included help with training options, getting his resume into shape, and making sure he had the basics sorted so he could show up feeling prepared.

Brendan didn’t give up. Adele said. He kept showing up and doing the work, and that’s what helped everything fall into place.

A job at Summit 1770 and two months going strong

Brendan’s hard work paid off sooner than anyone expected. After only a short time in the program, he secured a caretaking role at the stunning Summit 1770. It was a great match for his strengths and interests, and it gave him a workplace he genuinely enjoys being part of.

Even after Brendan started the job, the support did not stop. Adele and Tim continued to walk alongside him, checking in, helping him handle personal challenges, and supporting him as he settled into the role with confidence.

Now Brendan has reached two months of employment, and he is excited to keep learning and growing. His journey shows what can happen when someone is determined and the right support is there at the right time.
