Anne Maree’s fresh start in Gladstone

For years, Anne Maree tried different jobs and always gave it her all. But finding the right long-term role was not easy. Some jobs were too physical, and being a mature-age worker can come with extra challenges too. At 59, Anne Maree knew she still had plenty to offer. She just needed a job that suited her abilities and matched what she enjoys.

I knew I wanted a role I could stick with and feel good about. Anne Maree said.

Support that helped her find the right fit

With support, guidance and encouragement from the CoAct Connect + Community Solutions Gladstone team, Anne Maree started working towards a role that really suited her. The team helped her feel confident and ready to step into something new.

Before long, Anne Maree secured a position at McDonald’s. From the start, she felt welcomed and valued. She brought her bright personality to work and enjoyed being part of a busy, friendly workplace.

When Anne Maree walks in, she lifts the whole place, a team member said. She’s friendly, reliable, and she takes real pride in what she does.

A dream retirement job and new skills ahead

For Anne Maree, this role is more than just a job. It feels like her dream retirement job. She has always loved cleaning and takes pride in making spaces shine. Now she gets to do what she enjoys every day, while also chatting with customers and staff. Her bubbly nature has made her a great fit, and she has quickly become a familiar face in the restaurant.

Community Solutions supported Anne Maree with fuel assistance and uniforms, helping her start work with less stress and more comfort. Months later, she is still thriving. She shows up, works hard, and genuinely enjoys being there.

Now there is another exciting step ahead. Her team has been so impressed that she is getting ready to train on the front counter, building new skills and adding to her confidence.

I love coming to work,” Anne Maree said. It feels like I’ve found my place.

Anne Maree’s story shows that it’s never too late to find a job you love, and the right support can make a huge difference.
