Building confidence and a fresh start
Finding her way forward
When Amna connected with CoAct Connect + BUSY At Work Southport, she was at a turning point. Her previous job had ended, and as a dedicated parent, she needed work that would fit around her family life.
Amna was ready to work and had valuable skills, but her confidence was low. She felt unsure about how to move forward and needed encouragement to take the next step.
I knew I could work, I just needed support to believe in myself again,” Amna said.
Support that rebuilt belief
Amna started working with her mentor, Si, and the team at Southport. Together, they focused on helping her feel job ready and confident again.
She received practical support with her resume, interview practice, and job applications. Amna attended several interviews and stayed committed, even when early roles did not work out.
Si took the time to really understand Amna’s strengths. When a role opened within The BUSY Group as a Service Delivery Officer, Si encouraged her to apply and helped her prepare.
She had the skills. She just needed confidence and the right opportunity,” Si said.
With steady guidance and encouragement, Amna went into the interview feeling prepared and proud of herself.
A new role and real stability
Before long, Amna was offered the role and started her new job with the Apprenticeship Team at Southport. With ongoing mentoring and in work support, she quickly settled into the role and began to thrive.
Since starting, Amna has reached six months of employment, gained financial stability, and no longer relies on JobSeeker payments. This steady income has helped her family secure a permanent rental home, giving them a strong sense of security.
I felt proud of myself,” Amna said. “It wasn’t just about getting the job. It was about learning, growing and not giving up.
Amna’s story shows what can happen when determination meets the right support. With belief, practical help and encouragement, she has rebuilt her confidence and created a future she feels proud of.
